Win! A TV and BBC Entertainment DVDs

Ended on Sunday, November 15 2009

On November 11 the BBC is rebranding its slightly scary-sounding BBC Prime channel to the much more cheerful BBC Entertainment. Appropriate, given that it’s going to broadcast some of the best comedy and drama series to come out of Britain in the past few years. And to celebrate, they’re not only giving away a box full of some of the upcoming BBC Entertainment series on DVD, they’re also giving away a 40-inch Samsung Series 5 LCD TV to watch them on.

Not bad, eh? The DVDs cover everything from drama to comedy, so there’s something for everyone. Oliver Twist is a fantastic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic about a young orphan who becomes a child thief. Fans of modern-day crime drama, meanwhile, can turn to cop show Holby Blue. Drama fans will get their fix with two seasons of the school-based relationship drama Waterloo Road, while documentary fans will enjoy hours of spectacularsights with Coast, which charts the beautiful geography of Britain’s coastline. And if all this reality’s a bit too much, gather the family (well, except the really young kids) for seven episodes of time-travelling adventure series Doctor Who.

But it’s comedy fans who are best served; the set includes rom-com Love Soup; cringeathon Extras; Only Fools And Horses spin-off The Green, Green Grass; sketch series The Omid Djalili Show; and grumpy humour in Jack Dee’s Lead Balloon (see page 96 for an interview with the comedian).
