Scarf style

This season, scarves aren’t for the modest, they’re for the rockers Discuss this article

1 Koo Koo: If Harley Davidson set out to make scarves, they’d likely come up with this Alexander McQueen-esque piece by Koo Koo. The skeleton motif is one hundred per cent biker-chic (the natural by-product when you combine skulls and chiffon).
Available at 50°C (04 420 0414), Souk Al Bahar. Dhs450.

2 Dianora Salviati: Only Italian designer Dianora Salviati could make virgin wool look so… well, edgy. Thin and surprisingly lightweight, this scarf has a jolly quality (it may depict skeletons, but those bones are dancing). The muted, oatmeal shades can – and should – match any outfit.
Available at Boutique 1 (04 425 7888), The Walk at JBR. Dhs1,020.

3 Crumpet: Crumpet’s cool cashmere wraps are a fashionista favourite this season. With patterns that are a little bit funky and a little bit retro, we have to say we’re rather smitten ourselves. We’re particularly enamoured with this leopard-print version, which makes us feel like a roaring diva.
Available at Boutique 1 (04 425 7888), The Walk at JBR. Dhs1,130.

4 A Peace Treaty: Bono and his ilk have thankfully made political apathy passé. Brands that care now have an elevated status. A Peace Treaty produces chic scarves with a cause. Its scarves are handloomed by artisans working in remote places that are burdened by political conflict. Last season they directed funds towards the rebuilding of Afghanistan.
Available at 50°C (04 420 0414), Souk Al Bahar. Dhs500.

5 Topshop: We’ve harboured a secret crush on fishnets since the ’80s (that’s when we were first scolded for wearing them to school). Now Topshop’s embraced the gothic weave with this sexy black number. Just don’t tell our headmaster.
Available at Topshop (04 339 9790), The Dubai Mall. Other locations: Deira City Centre (04 295 1804), Ibn Battuta (04 368 5946), Mercato Mall (04 344 2677), Wafi (04 327 9929). Dhs180.

6 Hermes: We love Hermes. We just can’t help ourselves. Each of their designs is a miniature work of art, and this bright, map-themed scarf is no exception. We love the interplay of all the different maps.
Available at Hermes (04 330 8385), The Dubai Mall. Other location: BurJuman (04 351 1190). Dhs1,500.

7 All By N: We couldn’t resist the ’80s rocker chic of this Madonna-esque lace and lavender combo. Plus it has pockets, which is almost as cool as fingerless gloves, in our humble opinion.
Available at 50°C (04 420 0414), Souk Al Bahar. Dhs445.
